Rivertown Lodge in Hudson, Upstate New York

, October 24, 2024

The ductile railway line that traces the Hudson River north of New York City passes through the western edge of Hudson, NY. Founded in 1785 by Quaker merchants, Hudson grew as a manufacturing and transport hub into the early 20th Century, establishing bones that have been revived over the past 20 years after mid-century decline.

Hudson’s chequered reputation is now in vogue with properties like Rivertown Lodge converting well. The Rivertown Lodge’s motel design was upgraded in 2014 via its owners, Kim Bucci and Ray Pirkle of Workstead design studio. A cadre of local craftspeople helped upgrade the building, including custom furnishes, herringbone flooring and vintage upholstery.

A broad frontage reaches further back with a the building’s spine – what was once a movie lodge before turning in to the Warren Inn Motel. With 27 bedrooms in total, the communal area on the street side of the building is shared well.

Other parts of Hudson’s Warren Supernatural Coffee and Bakery, Italian feast & floret and Lil Deb’s Oasis.
