adidas Takumi Sen 8 Road Running Shoe
Will Ross, January 4, 2025

Adidas’ lightweight racing shoe has bounded into the supershoe realm with its eighth edition – the Takumi Sen now includes the 2.0 EnergyRods with metatarsal mimicry. Even for a shoe designed for tempo+ speeds over short-distances, the rods have shown to improve performances over 5km and 10km.
Other features from Adidas’ higher-end material design include the Lightstrike Pro midsole, offering cushioning while coordinating with the carbon-infused rods to reduce energy loss.
As for fit and comfort, gusseted tongues and cushioned heels reinforce another trends – supershoes now fit like socks. The upper is made from ultra-light engineered mesh, offering breathability and a snug, race-ready fit.

With all these indulgences, the Takumi Sen 8 retains its vital traction even if it’s disconcertingly comfortable at a 6mm heel-to-toe drop. The Continental rubber sole ensures grip in dry conditions, holding well enough on wet conditions on tarmac.
Packing these into a 187g shoe (size 8.5) sets up the for shorter workouts, swift races and track workouts.
